Over three years, Jack Finnegan has twice crisscrossed America (via rail) and once circled the globe, studying the manner and method of human life by immersing himself in cities across six continents, and performing stories as he has traveled. CITY LOVE SONG: HOME chronicles his final trip, this time across the globe, from India to Morocco to Guatemala, and many far-flung places in between. This unique travelogue is a lyrical, clear-eyed examination of the people and their lives in cities around our world.
Jack Finnegan’s (playwright/performer) work in narrative non-fiction seeks to explore the constant negotiation between the individual and the larger world, with a steady focus on life’s wonder, and a bias toward its beauty. He writes for the page, the stage, and occasionally, the video screen. Jack has a background in theater, formal training in philosophy, and a lifetime of working with children and seniors–our two most extraordinary forms of human beings.
Tralen Doler (director) is a New York City-based director and choreographer who has served as Artistic Director for The Little Theater on the Square, and is currently Resident Director for Cohoes Music Hall, where he has directed over 30 productions. His La Cage aux Folles for the Arizona Broadway Theater earned him an Arizoni Award for Best Director and Choreographer. As Artistic Associate of the Actors Repertory Theatre, Doler has directed critically acclaimed productions of Born Yesterday, The Drawer Boy, Moonlight, and Rabbit Hole.
