Review Fix chats with Canadian Christian Rock/Rapper Chris “Manafest” Greenwood, who discusses his new album, “Fighter,” as well as his hopes for the future and favorites tracks on the album.
Review Fix: What song on the new album do you feel best represents your style?
Manafest: “Throw it Away” and “Human.” My favorite two tracks on the record
Review Fix: How were they written? What was the creative process behind it?
Manafest: Human was started from an idea about not being perfect after getting in an argument with my wife. Adam and I started from scratch and left the studio with a good demo.
Throw it away was inspired from a friend who went through a divorce. I encourage listeners to hold on and not throw it away.
Review Fix: Some of your songs are rock and alternative and some are Christian rap. Which do you prefer more?
Manafest: I think all the songs are rock with elements of rap in them. I like a blend of both.
Review Fix: How do both appeal to you?
Manafest: There so interchangeable but sometimes i feel singing the chorus gets the message across better like in Human. However a chanted rap anthem can be awesome like in Bounce.
Review Fix: Considering how eclectic your tastes are, do you have any guilty pleasure favorites on your iPod your fans wouldn’t expect?
Manafest: A lot of business podcasts and Kenneth Copeland hymns.
Review Fix: Through three albums you’ve sold close to 200,000 records and played on four continents. Things haven’t always been easy, but you’ve been successful. What have you done in this new album to ensure your continued success?
Manafest: Always try to raise the bar. Never quit. Keep writing. Don’t ever settle and say its good enough. Today’s success is tomorrow’s mediocrity.
Review Fix: What do you think you need to do in order to be as successful as you want to be?
Manafest: A dream, vision and a goal with the will power to see it through.
Review Fix: What is your ultimate goal in music?
Manafest: (I’m) Living it out right now.
