The last WWE RAW of 2012 was all about fun, with several wacky, once in a lifetime moments, but don’t let the buzz confuse you. In spite of the special guest appearances of Vince McMahon, Sgt. Slaughter and Mae Young, several of 2012’s best made their marks once again and look primed for a breakout 2013.
5: The Miz: Once the company’s top heel, The Miz is beginning to develop into a nice upper-mid-card face. His match with John Cena vs. The Rhodes Scholars was entertaining. The fact that he got the Cena stamp of approval at the end was even more important for him. Be interesting to see him get a shot at Antonio Cesaro’s United States Heavyweight Title.
4: Daniel Bryan and Kane: They’ve had a couple of lukewarm weeks, but to see them back on their game, taking out three hungry mid-carders in 3MB was a lot of fun. Poised, consistent and thorough, they are the best tag team the WWE has had in easily over a year.
3: Antonio Cesaro: Hit a WWE Hall of Famer with your finisher twice? Yeah, that’ll get you some attention. Simply put, Cesaro is in a league of his own right now.
2: Wade Barrett: Huge win for him over Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Title. It was easily the best match on RAW this week. All Barrett has to do now is make sure Creative doesn’t change the name of his finisher again.
1: The Shield: Roman Reigns has a wicked spear. Seth Rollins is cat-like quick and is a better performer than most WWE fans think and Dean Ambrose is devious. This week, they turned the Celtic Warrior into just another victim. Ryback, too had more than his hands full with the trio. If not for Sheamus and Randy Orton, their handicap match against Ryback could have turned out very differently. By themselves, they are talented youngsters with bright futures ahead. But together, they can be a damn good faction that can not only be a thorn in the side of every face in the company, but who knows, they may even pose a problem for The Rock.
