Review Fix chats with Meowzers developer Dustin Q Sacks, who discusses the games influences and plans for the future. A free to play title for mobile devices, Meowzers is all about fun with your favorite furry friends.
Review Fix: What was the inspiration for the game?
Sacks: Meowzers started as an exploration of what multi-touch devices could be capable of. From there a “Herding Cats” idea appeared, as I’m a cat-lover, and so is the internet. After proto-typing that, it evolved away from herding towards controlling the cats, as that was much funner.
Review Fix: The game has an almost “Tom and Jerry” look to it. Were there any cartoons you watched growing up that helped influence the title?‬
Sacks: Haha. I did watch a lot of cartoons growing up, and I’m still a big fan of animated movies and series. Credit for the cat art style goes to our talented illustrator Karly MacDonald, whom I met at the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival. ‪
Review Fix: Are there any planned updates to the game?‬
Sacks: Yes. We plan to continue to add more game worlds to the adventure mode. Also, there are plans for a better intro-storyline to enter players into the game.‪
Review Fix: What’s your favorite part/element of the gameplay?‬
Sacks: I really enjoy playing the game with friends in co-op mode. That and when the sound-effects go crazy from a lot of things happening at once. ‪
Review Fix: Who do you think will enjoy the game the most?‬
Sacks: I think everyone who likes cats will enjoy Meowzers.‪
Review Fix: If you had the ability to change one thing about the game, what would it be and why?‬
Sacks: Hmm, well technically I do have the ability to change anything about the game. There are plans to keep adding more content, but for now I’m really happy with the core game. I’d like for more people to know about it though. ‪
Review Fix: What are your hopes for the game?‬
Sacks: I hope it makes a lot of people smile.
