CM Punk is out of his mind. The guy still can’t admit he lost the title.
Paul Heyman is a lunatic. He’s a compulsive liar who can’t decide if he wants to leave Punk’s side or not.
At least it makes for good television.
What didn’t make for quality television was the segment where The Shield again ran away from Sheamus, John Cena and Ryback. Did WWE Creative forget that they wrote the same exact segment to close out RAW last week?
Aside from the rest of the Elimination Chamber participants being announced, not even story time with the Rock could save the show from mediocrity.
Luckily, the work of Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, Antonio Cesaro and Daniel Bryan saved the show. It is a wrestling program after all. Away from all the hoopla and job outs, there was some solid wrestling action to be had.
Matches:
Mark Henry vs. The Great Khali w/Nattie Niedhart and Hornswoggle: A disaster to watch, but Henry beat the feeble athlete Khali. Tremendously slow and lacking an inability to sell, Khali deserves to get his walking papers. After a few slaps from Khalo, Henry picked up the 400-pound giant with ease and won with the World’s Strongest Slam. After the match, Hornswoggle caught the finisher as well.
WWE Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Chris Jericho: Two technical stars traded offense and counters in a solid match. Both competitors had some enjoyable spots and went through their signature offense. After Jericho kicked out of a top-rope headbutt from Bryan, Jericho countered a knee and put Bryan in the Walls of Jericho. Bryan then countered that move into the No Lock, but Jericho put the Walls on once again. Bryan, once, again countered and began his usual leg powered assault. A few near-falls later however, Jericho countered a knee and caught Bryan with the Code Breaker for the win.
Sheamus, John Cena and Ryback vs. Heath Slater, Drew MacIntyre and Jinder Mahal: A three-man job out. After some pandering, a White Noise, Attitude Adjustment and a Shellshock earned the faces the win.
Jack Swagger w/ Zeb Coulter vs. Zack Ryder: A Belly to Belly Suplex and a turnbuckle Powerbomb put Swagger in control, but a nice diving Powerbomb and the Ankle Lock gave him the quick win.
The Miz vs. Cody Rhodes: The match was thrown out after United States Champion Antonio Cesaro absolutely destroyed The Miz on the outside.
Primo and Epico w/Rosa Mendez vs. Brodus Clay and Tensai w/Naomi and Cameron: Tensai won with his Senton Backsplash in a match that lasted less than three minutes.
Damien Sandow vs. World Champion Alberto Del Rio w/ Ricardo Rodriguez: Sandow hit a few knees early on, but Del Rio quickly hit his patented kick to Sandow’s head and then latched on the Cross-Arm Bar for the win.
Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett vs. Kofi Kingston: Although Bo Dallas took out Barrett before the match, the IC Champ was still in good enough shape to kick some arse. After he escaped the Trouble in Paradise, he intelligently ran out of the ring and covered Kingston with the Ring Apron. Once Kingston was blinded, Barrett nailed him with the Bullhammer Elbow for the win.
Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler w/AJ Lee and Big E. Langston: A high-energy match between two great workers. Ziggler was his usual speedy and dangerous self, while Kane hit all the right power moves to stay in the match. After Lee got involved and fell off the ring apron and into the arms of Langston, Ziggler was caught paying attention to them and not to Kane. Soon enough, Kane had his hand on Ziggler for the Chokeslam and the win.
