Brock Lesnar is pissed. So is Ryback. CM Punk and Jack Swagger aren’t happy either.
These personalities fueled a lukewarm episode of RAW that entertained, but dragged like King Mabel’s feet on a treadmill.
Like Fandango’s elongated promo, there was a certain cool factor in the air, but the end result was underwhelming.
Not even The Shield’s decimation of John Cena could get the show past the mediocre.
Although his breakthrough shoot was a tad longer than it needed to be, Ryback’s actually a much better speaker than anyone in the WWE could have given him credit for. Regardless, his issues with John Cena now spelled out, Ryback is ready to take the WWE champion’s title.
After an emotional promo from Paul Heyman, it appears Brock Lesnar will get another shot at Triple H. However, the same can’t be said for CM Punk. With no WWE title and a loss to The Undertaker at Wrestlemania, what next for the company’s top heel?
Most likely, it’s time to heal. From the looks of it, Punk is all set for a nice hiatus. Although the WWE will miss his services, the guy deserves some time to recuperate.
Matches:
Randy Orton and Sheamus vs. Big Show: Orton and Sheamus had their hands full with Show, who laid down some massive chops, a Sideslam and a Final Cut on the Celtic Warrior. Sheamus changed the tide with a monstrous Electric Chair Drop and then tagged in Orton. The Viper continued the onslaught on Show with his signature DDT and a few clotheslines. After a Brogue Kick from Sheamus and an RKO from Orton, Show was slain.
United States Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. Kofi Kingston: It was counters galore in an action-packed contest. Kingston tried to end it early after the Boom Drop and an attempt at the Trouble in Paradise, but Cesaro countered into a beautiful Press/European Uppercut combination. Kingston nearly won with the SOS, but Cesaro got his legs on the ropes. Kingston hit the Trouble in Paradise later, but Cesaro was smart enough to roll out of the ring. Cesaro then countered a Kingston top rope Splash into a Titl-a-Whirl Backbreaker, but after a slew of near-falls, Kingston hit the Trouble in Paradise again for the win.
Darren Young and Titus O’Neill vs. WWE Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan and Kane: The Prime Time Players were on the same page early, but Hell No fought back and won after a Bryan flying Headbutt.
Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett vs. R-Truth: The challenger set the tone with several solid strikes and a Reverse Michinoku Driver, but Barrett was resilient. However, Truth reversed a Pump-Handle Slam into a Complete Shot for the win.
Santino Marella and The Great Khali w/Hornswoggle and Natalya Neidhart vs. Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes: The Rhodes Scholars worked over Marella after some troubles with Khali. Marella battled back with some signature offense and eventually hit Sandow with the Cobra. But with Rhodes on the outside, Khali and Marella forgot about Sandow, who rolled up Marella for the in.
Jack Swagger w/ Zeb Colter vs. World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler w/ AJ Lee and Big E. Langston: Swagger was convincing early on. Ziggler had a few spots later on with a beautiful dropkick and his signature DDT, but Swagger turned a powerbomb into a Hot Shot across the top ring rope and rolled up Ziggler for the win. After the match Alberto Del Rio nailed Swagger with a crutch and applied the Arm Bar.
Divas Champion Kaitlyn vs. Nikki Bella w/Brie Bella: Twin magic was in full effect as Kaitlyn beat up Nikki, but couldn’t get past the Brie, who snuck in the match behind the referees match to steal the win.
