Hell’s Kitchen Coverage: That Country Tis of Thee

It may be a brand new night, but it’s the same old drama in another episode of “Hell’s Kitchen.”

Where “Hell’s Kitchen” left off, Ramsay was shocked that the Red chose who would go to the Blue via pulling a name randomly. He told them to go into the Red kitchen and vote on it. Nedra decided that she would join Blue. Nedra said to the camera that joining the Blue was just “a stepping stone to get to my black jacket.”

The next morning the dining room was filled with giant presents, wrapped with the colors of different country flags. On top of that Ramsay called out models wearing traditional dress from the countries each box represents and a wheel that had the names of said countries. It was a one-on-one battle where each pairing had to turn the wheel and cook whatever cuisine the wheel landed on. When the cuisine was chosen, the box representing that cuisine was raised revealing the ingredients each pairing had to use.

Mary and John got Indian, Nedra and Ja’Nel got Thai, Susan and Zach got Japanese and Cyndi and Anthony got Greek.

At this point we got the funny line of the day: Zach called bok choy “bok chewy.”

To help Ramsay judge the dishes was Executive Editor for “Every Day with Rachael Ray” Dana Bowen.

Nedra really didn’t like how Ramsay and Bowen were loving Ja’Nel’s halibut. Her curry broth with deep fried calamari didn’t impress them as much as she wanted.

The Red was leading 2-1 when it came to the last cuisine (Japanese.) Zach still said bok chewy even though Susan just said it correctly. The Red still got the point and won due to Zach’s dry chicken and the fact that the dish was not really being Japanese.

The Red’s reward was shopping at Kitson and $2,000 to buy whatever they want. After that, they ate lunch at Mr.Chow, where they had their own floor.

The Blue spent the day lifting boxes of whine, cutting lemons and prepping both kitchens. Nedra spent the entire time complaining about the Blue Kitchen and Zach compared her to Charlie Brown’s teacher.

At dinner service, Nedra’s station was the only one not ready. She blamed the rest of the Blue for not prepping her station.

In the Red service started out with Susan making four risottos. She was supposed to only make two. This was followed with Ja’Nel’s poorly seared scallops. Ramsay had a breakdown at that point. It’s understandable at this point. These chefs should be able to cook these dishes in their sleep at this point. Ja’Nel’s raw halibut for VIP guest Kelly Hu from “Hawaii Five-O” made Ramsay throw out the entire Red Team.

In the Blue it was all Nedra. She started with making a super salty risotto. Later she refused help from Zach. Ramsay came in to tell them that he would’ve thrown Nedra off appetizers and put her on garnish. Not to mention the app station was a mess. Besides her mess, Jon made mushy scallops. That drove Ramsay to the edge and threw all four Blue chefs out.

Both teams had to choose one person for elimination. The chefs put up were Susan and Nedra (that is, after she put up a fight.)

That fight was all in vain- she was eliminated.

Nedra could not have been eliminated any sooner. Her constant screaming and tough girl act are finally over. Too bad she’s most likely coming back for the finale. Till then Hell’s Kitchen will be a lot quieter.
