Thanks to financial support of the fans, development on the next big update to Uprising is under way
Even though 2012 ended only five short months ago, it feels like a lifetime has passed for the developers of Pro Wrestling X.
“The last few months of 2012 were absolutely insane,” said Dave Wishnowski, Pro Wrestling X Producer. “We debuted on Steam Greenlight, attempted a Kickstarter, and released our very first wrestling game – all in the span of 120 days.”
Available for sale at the Pro Wrestling X website since December, Uprising represented a major milestone for the project. When their Kickstarter didn’t meet goal, the developers decided to release the not-quite-ready-for-prime-time game anyway, hoping to fund future development. Fan enthusiasm and financial support was immediate and overwhelming.
“We had nothing left to lose, so we just held our breath, trusted people would see the potential in our first game, and maybe give us enough financial support to keep us going,” said Wishnowski. “We expected half of the response to be positive and half to be negative. To our great surprise, our apprehension was met with nearly universal positivity and support.”
“We took a leap of faith, and trusted people wanted us to succeed. Our fans didn’t let us down.”
Enough funding has been raised from the initial sales of Uprising – and the other package upgrades available – that the next big update to the game is now in progress. This free update to Uprising will feature improved animations, smoother gameplay and a number of bug fixes. The programming is being rebuilt from the ground up, setting the stage for future development.
“This has easily been the hardest but most rewarding period of our lives,” acknowledged Dave. “But it wouldn’t have been fun if it was easy, and we’ve had enough fun to nearly kill us. Thanks to the fans, we’re still standing, moving forward, and ready to write the next chapter of our story.”
