A week after Abyss came back and destroyed the Aces and Eights, TNA plays “dumb†and has Joseph Park return and ask, “Where is Abyss
Ah man, talk about lame.
Rather than give fans what they want, TNA continues to tease. As a result, the show continues to stall, rather than purr.
The company is making the same missteps with AJ Styles as they did with Abyss. Styles is one of the most dynamic performers in the sport today, but TNA keeps dragging his feud wit Angle along. While it will undoubtedly be an awesome match, there’s no anticipation of what will happen this point. It’s all taken way too long.
Even if Styles does patch in with the Aces and Eights next Thursday, will it have the same effect had it happened when Styles originally came back two months ago?
Away from the big angles, TNA is bringing back Suicide and it appears Gut Check winner Jay Bradley may get a singles push. If you’re not intrigued, don’t sweat it. Not many are at this point.
Matches:
Bobby Roode vs. TNA Tag Team Champion Chavo Guerrero: This was a lackluster opener between two talented performers. Guerrero was in control after the Three Amigos, but Roode countered what was probably the Frog Splash. Too bad James Storm joined the fracas and spit beer in Roode’s face to throw the match out.
Jay Bradley vs. Christian York: Bradley hit his Yakuza Kick and a plethora of strikes, but York, the more seasoned performer, fought back with strikes of his own. York was able to dodge Bradley’s signature Clothesline, but Bradley countered The Moodswing. After another series of moves and counters, Bradley hit the Boomstick for the win.
Knockouts Champion Velvet Sky vs. Gail Kim: Sky took a beating throughout the match, but won with a quick rollup. After the match, Kim worked over Sky with the figure-four on the outside with an assist from the turnbuckle.
X-Division Champion Kenny King vs. Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin: King usually plays possum during his matches, but this time, he didn’t mind fighting. All three competitors mixed in signature offense and spots, in addition to selling for one another. Williams looked ready for the Canadian Destroyer, but Sabin got involved and allowed the match to continue. King nailed Williams with a Twisting Urinage Backbreaker, but didn’t get the pin. Sabin then hit a few moves of his own. However amid all the drama, King managed to squeak out the win with his Royal Flush finisher.
TNA Tag Team Champion Hernandez vs. Christopher Daniels w/Frank Kazarian: James Storm played a role in this match too as Daniels was more preoccupied with him than Hernandez. After the big Shoulder Block, Daniels went down for the pinfall. After the match, Storm announced that the Tag Team titles would be defended at the next pay per view in a four-team match that would pit Austin Aries/Bobby Roode, Daniels/Kazarian and Storm and a partner of his choosing against Hernandez and Guerrero.
Joseph Park vs. D’Lo Brown: This was like two separate matches. The beginning saw Brown beat the snot out of Park until he bloodied his hands on Park’s face. Once the crimson mask appeared, Park hit a few clotheslines and finished off Brown with a Blackhole Slam.
