Ryback will face WWE Champion John Cena in a Last man Standing match at Extreme Rules.
Not excited? It’s okay. No one is.
You had other reasons to be bored as well. All night, Michael Cole and the rest of the announce team hinted at Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman’s appearance at WWE Headquarters, but all the Beast did was destroy Triple H’s office.
Big whoop.
Thankfully, the matches were entertaining. Aside from that, this episode of RAW was passable.
Matches:
Randy Orton vs. Damien Sandow: The WWE’s “Intellectual Savior†began the match with a song and got the fans even more on Orton’s side. The Viper was on his game early on as Orton worked on Sandow on the outside. Once the action got back in the ring, Orton went through some trademark offense, but Sandown hit some of his signature moves as well. After Orton broke out of a side headlock, he went into hyper drive and hit the Powerslam, a Dropkick and his vintage DDT from the second rope. The RKO soon followed and Orton had the win. After the match, Big Show knocked him out on the entrance ramp.
Fandango vs. R-Truth: Chris Jericho, along with Tensai and Brodus Clay served as judges for Fandango’s performance at ringside. Truth was on fire early on, hitting his spinning Axe Kick and dancing up a storm. After the judges liked R-Truth’s performance, Fandango walked out on the match.
Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez vs. World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler w/AJ Lee and Big E. Langston: Two great workers battled in an extremely even encounter. Both traded counters and offense for most of the match. Just when Del Rio had the upper-hand, Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter made their way ringside. The match then continued in its back and forth nature, with neither competitor dominating. Once Del Rio put Ziggler in the Cross-Arm Bar, Langston and Lee got involved and got the match thrown out. After that, Swagger got involved with a ladder and destroyed everyone.
Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs. Jimmy and Jey Uso and United States Champion Kofi Kingston: The Usos were on fire early, but after a few quick tags, The Shield regained control. Between the power of Reigns, the speed of Rollins and the grit of Ambrose, the Usos barely scraped out any offense. A Samoan drop got the faces back on track though and after Kingston got the hot tag, the momentum changed. Kingston went through his signature offense, but missed the Trouble in Paradise. A Top Rope Splash couldn’t put Ambrose away and after Rollins interfered, Ambrose nailed Kingston with his Diving Front Bulldog for the victory.
Antonio Cesaro vs. Zack Ryder: Cesaro needed a dominant win like this. Although Ryder got in a few licks, Cesaro laid him to waste with a massive European Uppercut and the Neutralizer.
Nikki and Brie Bella and AJ Lee vs. Divas Champion Kaitlyn and Cameron and Naomi: Lee dominated Cameron early, but once Kaitlyn got in the match, it was over. With Lee struggling, the Bellas refused to get tagged in. That left Lee wide open for a Spear and a Kaitlyn win.
Sheamus vs. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett: Mark henry was ringside and tried to interfere, but Sheamus nailed him with the Brogue Kick on the outside. Barrett was in control for a bit, but missed his trademark elbow. After the White Noise, Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick for the win. After the bell, Henry, now recovered, beat Sheamus with a belt and added the World’s Strongest Slam on the outside.
Ryback vs. WWE Tag Team Champion Kane: The Big Red machine was on the offensive in the early going, hitting a Running Powerslam, but Ryback was resilient. Kane continued the offense with a Big Boot, but Ryback blocked a Chokeslam. Kane countered The Shellshock into a Vertical Suplex, but got greedy when he went for the top rope Clothesline. From the turnbuckle position, Ryback hoisted Kane on his back for The Shellshock and the win. After the match The Shield joined the party, but Ryback left the scene. Thankfully for Kane, John Cena and Daniel Bryan helped out, but Ryback returned with a chair and took out Cena.
