The new time slot for Impact has seemingly revitalized the product. After a fun and fast-paced card, TNA left the door open for plenty of great performances and the boys in the back delivered.
Check out this week’s Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see who has a win on their minds for this weekend’s pay per view.
5: Sting: Although he capitalized on a distraction caused by Abyss’ music, The Stinger wrestled another quality match against the World Heavyweight Champion. He knows he’s not the guy he used to be and shouldn’t be in the World Title picture, but he’s making the best of a bad situation in TNA. He can still work- plain and simple. If he could only cut out the Boy Scout face drama, then things could finally get interesting. In a promo a few weeks ago, Sting said he planned on dismembering and destroying Bully Ray. It would be nice to see that come true- metaphorically speaking that is.
4: Samoa Joe: The Samoan Submission Machine made a nice return this week on Impact and wasted no time taking out DOC, Wes Brisco and Garrett Bischoff. The announcement of the six-man tag with Jeff Hardy only makes his return that much sweeter. One of the most talented workers in the company today, Joe’s return is an important one for TNA. Maybe this time the company will allow Joe to run a little bit before they remind him he’s an a leash.
3: The Aces and Eights: The club lost the opening match against Sting and Joseph Park. Later on Magnus and Samoa Joe embarrassed Garrett Bischoff, Wes Brisco and DOC. At the end of the night Anderson couldn’t put away AJ Styles, but that didn’t stop the faction from claiming a few victims. After the main event, The Aces and Eights took out Sting and a few other TNA stars to make sure no one thought they’d let a few mishaps ruin a night.
2: Gunner: Umm, did Gunner destroy Austin Aries with two moves this week? Did that actually happen? Yes it did. Maybe it had more to do with Aries’ bad behavior over the past few weeks, but Gunner still made a big time statement this week and gives his team massive momentum going into Slammiversary. With a new look and a solid skill set, Gunner makes an already impressive Tag Team division that much stronger.
1: The Tag Team Division: It’s quite possible that TNA may currently have the best tag team division in the history of their company. Four excellent teams that can do it all in the ring; it’s a shame that only one can wear the straps. It’s fair to say that more people may be interested in this division now than the current drama with the Aces and Eights and the Heavyweight title.
