AJ Styles is no longer TNA Champion because he won’t do things the Dixie Carter way.
Sounds a bit like the WWE’s current storyline, right?
Now with an eight-man tournament to crown a new champion, TNA is a creative mess. In the meantime, Styles is defending the belt all over the world, with his most recent defense in Triple A against Judas Mesias.
Away from the shenanigans from Christopher Daniels and Frank Kazarian, the solid in-ring tag feud between the Bromans and James Storm and Gunner and the war between Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson, there isn’t much going on in TNA that’s entertaining. Most of it, like Dixie Carter’s terrible Stephanie McMahon-esque bitch boss, is a complete waste of time.
With the Main Event Mafia dead in the water, The Aces and Eights with three members and no real heat anywhere, why would anyone watch the show right now?
Matches:
James Storm and Gunner vs. Jessie Godderz and Robbie E: The Bromans sold for about eight minutes with barely any offense. A nice heel move by Robbie E. allowed Godderz to get the pin on Storm.
Ethan Carter III vs. Norv Furnam: Waste of an encounter. Carter III won with the Diving Front Bulldog.
Over the Top Gauntlet Battle Royal-Winner to earn a World Title Tournament Spot: Sting vs. Frank Kazarian vs. Knux vs. Eric Young vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Manik vs. Magnus: Standard Battle Royal in TNA that saw a flurry of eliminations towards the end. Magnus, Sting and Bad Influence were the last four left. Daniels was the next to go and quickly there after, Magnus eliminated both Sting and Kazarian.
TNA Knockouts Champion Gail Kim with Lei’d Tapa vs. ODB: Sad that this was the best match of the night. There was a solid pace and the crowd was into it. A less than interesting finish involving Lei’d Tapa made sure Kim kept her title.
Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle: This was a solid match until the storyline reared its ugly head and Angle played dead and was taken off via stretcher.
