With the Slammy Awards this week on Monday Night RAW, we here at Review Fix went ahead and picked our own winners and even added a few new categories and deleted a few that don’t mean much to us.
Check out our full list of winners below:
Rookie of the Year: Dean Ambrose: Say what you want about Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and even Big E. Langston, but in terms of polish in the ring and on the microphone, Ambrose is in a league of his own. A future WWE Champion, Ambrose’s first year in the WWE was a memorable one.
Most Improved Superstar: Bray Wyatt: Husky Harris who? Wyatt has come a long way, both in the ring and especially on the microphone. Simply put, he’s got the makings of a singles superstar.
Total Diva of the Year: AJ Lee: She’s not on Total Divas, but make no mistake, she’s the best thing in the division bar none. Sexy and sneaky, she makes every move in the ring and on the microphone a calculating and sinister delight.
LOL! Moment of the Year: Any time Los Matadores are on the television, you have to laugh. A throwback to ‘80s sports entertainment, they are a complete joke and a waste of two talented performers in Primo and Epico.
Match of the Year: There were several amazing matches this year, but Daniel Bryan’s match with John Cena at Summerslam was an epic. When it was revealed later that Cena was injured and wrestled hurt, it makes it an even greater encounter.
Double-Cross of the Year: You had to see Triple H’s heel turn at Summerslam coming, but that doesn’t mean it still wasn’t cool.
This is Awesome Moment of the Year: The John Cena/CM Punk match on RAW for a title shot at Wrestlemania 29, also Punk’s last shot at the gold, was easily the best match on RAW in years and a reminder that there’s still a place for great wrestling on a cable wrestling show.
Insult of the Year: Being a PG show, there aren’t many insults to go around. CM Punk calling Triple H a douchbag this week on RAW is one of the only memorable ones that stands out.
Extreme Moment of the Year: Paul Heyman at Hell in a Cell. CM Punk’s ass whoopin’ on Paul Heyman was pretty brutal. The marks on Heyman’s back were cringe inducing.
Tag Team of the Year: Hell No: There wasn’t a Tag Team as over as Kane and Daniel Bryan in a very long time. Sad to say it’ll probably be an even longer time until another team is about to pop the fans like The Big Red Machine and Goat were.
Superstar of the Year: Daniel Bryan: 2012 was all CM Punk and 2013 goes to another under-seized Indie guy turned WWE Superstar. From Tag Team performer to singles wrecking machine, Bryan wrestled his heart out all year and earned the respect of fans all over the world. Although it appears his time in the WWE title picture is all but finished for now, 2014 could be an intriguing year for the bearded wonder.
