Magnus is your new TNA World Heavyweight Champion and Chavo Guerrero is gone.
It’s not the most interesting developments in TNA history, but it could be the beginning of a new movement in the company.
Feast or Fired also revealed Zema Ion will get an X-Division title shot while Ethan Carter III will need to find a partner and challenge for the TNA World Tag Team titles.
The news that Gunner will get a World Title shot against the newly-crowned TNA World Heavyweight Champion was definitely one of the cooler moments on the show. The guy has a great look and move set and could spice up the currently flaccid TNA World Title scene.
The continued development in the Eric Young and Joseph Park doesn’t seem to end either. Last week’s drama made you think that it was close to over, but it appears TNA is going to drag this out for as long as they possibly can. Like many of the angles in the company right now, TNA has no sense of plot direction.
Regardless, with some new feuds and drama this week, the show did have more passion and spunk. That’s something the brand will definitely need to utilize moving forward.
Matches:
Two out of Three Falls Match: Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode: This was a long, submission and strike-filled match. The two traded falls in the beginning, but Angle couldn’t put Roode away with the Olympic Slam or several Ankle Locks. But in a slick heel move, Roode rolled up Angle near the ropes and held on for extra leverage to earn the win. Great match and a cool moment for Roode.
Lei’d Tapa and TNA Knockouts Champion Gail Kim vs. Madison Rayne and ODB: This match did little other than fuel the feuds between Rayne and Kim and Tapa and ODB. Rayne won after she countered the Eat Defeat into a Backslide.
Dixie Land Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Title Magnus vs. Jeff Hardy: This was easily one of the best matches in TNA this year. Hardy stole the show with a Whisper in the Wind from the top of the cage. Ethan Carter III soon got involved and tried to stop Magnus from climbing out of the ring, but Hardy attacked Carter and nailed him with the Twist of Fate on the outside. Once the two began to head to the ladder, Hardy looked seconds away from reclaiming the title, until Rockstar Spud knocked him off and allowed Magnus to win his first TNA World Heavyweight Title.
