Review Fix chats with Blacklist Union Frontman Tony West, who discusses the band’s new album, “Til’ Death Do US Part,†as well as his goals for 2014.
Review Fix: How is “Til’ Death Do US Part†different from the band’s other albums?
Tony West: We do not answer to anyone. It’s pure 100% unfiltered rock n roll.
Review Fix: What have you learned about yourself as a musician leading up to this album and how did it impact the creative side of this album?
West: Well it’s really about what I have learned as being a person and a human and evolving. My whole life has prepared me for the moment I am in- the moment we are all in. This CD shows a huge evolution both musically and personally.
Review Fix: How was the album written? Any interesting stories?
West: The process of writing and recording follows no set path. The best story of it all is that I got to work with many of my peers and a couple heroes as well. Being recognized by your peers is a huge honor.
Review Fix: I know it’s always a hard question to answer, but what is the standout song on the album? Why?
West: I love “Alabama Slammer.†Not only is it as real as it gets lyrically it also helps me in a therapeutic way casting out bad energy. Plus the chorus never gets out of your head.
Review Fix: What’s a song you think people might bypass but is better than people might expect?
West: I don’t think anyone would bypass a song on this CD however “Don’t Change,†the cover we did by INXS is pretty bad ass you don’t want to bypass that one.
Review Fix: What are your goals for 2014?
West: We want to tour as much as possible and release our new CD (which will be our 4th this summer).
Review Fix: How do you want this album (Til Death Do Us Part) to be remembered?
West: As a kickass classic rock n roll CD.
