TNA Impact Wrestling Genesis Coverage: A New Beginning?

Dixie Carter promised the Genesis pay per view would be a new beginning for the company and the first part of the two-part PPV was full of wrestling goodness with enough storyline to keep you interested.

Where is TNA going? Will it work? Regardless of what you think, the in-ring performances were solid and with the older former WWE/WCW stars with a smaller role, TNA is definitely swimming in different waters. The appearances of Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards and mention of a “new investor” too is proof the company is trying to liven up the product.

All of this is a step in the right direction, even if it’s probably too late to save the company from impending doom.

Matches:

12-Man Tag: Samoa Joe, Eric Young, Gunner, Joseph Park, James Storm and OBD vs. TNA Tag Team Champions Robbie E and Jessie Godderz, Zema Ion, Christopher Daniels, Frank Kazarian and Lei’D Tapa w/ Gail Kim: A wild match with a plethora of offense. All 12 competitors had their time to shine and show off their signature maneuvers. At one point, Park got bloodied and left the match, but Samoa Joe kept the Faces in the match and got Daniels to submit with his trademark Kokina Clutch.

No DQ: Bully Ray vs. Mr. Anderson: A gritty encounter that got hardcore as steel chairs and guard rails came into play. Anderson got the worst of the action, missing a Senton Bomb and landing on the cold steel rail. After the miss however, Anderson hit the Mic Check on the rail, but couldn’t pin Ray. With a table in tow, Anderson hit a Flipping Fireman’s Carry through a table, but once again, Ray kicked out. Anderson then went for another table, but after he set it up, Ray hit the Urinage Slam and then went for the lighter fluid. Anderson countered with The Mic Check and then poured the lighter fluid on the table and went to set it ablaze. Before he could, Ray hit a nasty Piledriver for the win.

Knockout Champion Gail Kim w/Lei’d Tapa vs. Madison Rayne: Kim was in control until Rayne hit a Knee-Assisted Neckbreaker to win the Knockouts title.

Ethan Carter III vs. Sting, Rockstar Spud Guest Referee: Carter was dominant early on as the match traveled both inside and outside the ring. Sting fought back and got Carter in the Scorpion Death Lock, but Spud got involved. After a Scorpion Death Drop, Sting had it all finished, but Spud refused to count. Magnus then interrupted as allowed Carter to rollup Sting, while Magnus counted the pinball. After the match, Sting challenged Magnus and put his career on the line.
