If you haven’t watched TNA in a while, this episode may have felt like a different company. For the first time in a long time, the match ups are fresher and the drama doesn’t del as forced. While it’s still a long way from being truly entertaining, it’s obvious they are trying something different.
Check out this week’s TNA Impact wrestling power rankings to see what TNA performers are making the most out of some new opportunities.
5: Ethan Carter III: Wins in matches against Sting don’t happen every week and make no mistake- ECIII is on a roll. It’ll be a while until TNA gives him a real singles match against the legend, but until then, they’ll make sure the angle stays pertinent.
4: Jeff Hardy: Supposedly finished with the company, much like Bully Ray, it’ll be interesting to see where Hardy goes from here. For the time being, it appears his time in the World Heavyweight Title picture is over as well, but his impact with the company and with the fans is still important.
3: Bully Ray: This poor guy’s world continues to crumble all around him. After the demise of his faction and the loss of his old lady, Ray is a shattered soul. Where this angle ends up is anyone’s guess, but it does prove the company is trying once again to give Ray an opportunity to develop a character we haven’t seen yet.
2: Gunner: With new ring gear, music and an increasingly bad attitude, it’s obvious the company is trying to give Gunner a mega push- one that he absolutely deserves. The faster they can have him finish up with feud with James Storm and get in the ring with Magnus, the better.
1: Magnus: The montages were frequent and he didn’t wrestle. Sounds like TNA’s new World Heavyweight Champion is sure towing the company line. Bottom line, he needs to be in the ring as much as possible and earn that title. With his youth, lack of a real finisher and polish on the microphone, he has an opportunity to really surprise fans with his ability. He’s not going to do it with montages or vignettes.
