With a great card and enough intrigue to fill a dirt-sheet, the conclusion to Genesis was one of the best episodes of TNA on television in nearly a year. For the first time in their new “free PPV on TV†format, the company put on a real PPV on television.
Check out our weekly TNA Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see who is riding high after one of the company’s best performances in months.
Honorable Mention: Abyss: His return was a heck of a lot of fun and makes the Tag Team Division interesting again. Teamed with the solid performer, but always entertaining Eric Young
5: Gunner: With another win over James Storm, can Gunner finally take a real run at the TNA World Heavyweight title? While Storm is an excellent competitor and the two have quality matches, Gunner is ready for the next step of his career. No more tag team action, so sidesteps, Gunner deserves his shot.
4: The Lone Wolves, Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards: They haven’t wrestled a match in TNA yet, but they’ve sure made an impact. Miffed at Dixie Carter, the tag team looks to play a prominent role in the company’s next big angle. With the Bromans, Jessie Godderz and Robbie E not having the strangle hold on the Tag Team titles either, it’s definitely possible that the wolves skyrocket to the top of the division rather quickly.
3: Austin Aries: The new TNA X-Division Champion, Aries continues to stay pertinent in a company where wrestlers consistently fall out of favor. One of the most talented performers in the company, Aries is just a whisker away from getting back in the World Title hunt. With the possibility of Velvet Skye joining him as valet as well, Aries 2014 has certainly gotten off to a solid start.
2: Kurt Angle: His match with Bobby Roode this week was insane. Angle continues to push himself in spite of advancing age and a body that just doesn’t work the same way it used to. Heart just isn’t the word for this guy. With the company in dire peril, in need of passion and dedication, Angle continues to prove every week that he’ll do anything for TNA.
1: Magnus: With Sting out of the way, Magnus is all alone on top of TNA. With the identity of the secret investor revealed, Magnus’ future is unclear, but it is without a doubt going to be an interesting one.
