Review Fix chats with One lead guitarist Chris Staniforth, who discusses the band’s new album, “Worlds Collide,” as well as their goals and influences.
A damn good rock band, One’s sound is one built around solid musicianship and plenty of passion.
Review Fix: What makes this album different from the other work you guys have produced?
Chris Staniforth: Well we have obviously grown since the last album…like anything else writing songs is something you learn to do…with this record we had a bunch of really different sounding stuff. We didn’t try to re-work it to make it sound like a typical ONE song. Which we feel makes for a really diverse sounding record.
Review Fix: Why do you think someone who’s never listened to you, should? What makes you guys unique?
Staniforth: We have always been honest in our message and energy towards making music and putting on shows. People relate to that. We also have something that everyone can enjoy.
Review Fix: How is your sound different live?
Staniforth: We have always prided ourselves on being able to re-create album material. The difference would be the energy. There is something amazing about connecting with people from the stage…that being said the tunes are probably a little more energetic.
Review Fix: How was the song “Worlds Collide” written? Is there a story behind it?
Staniforth: As we were working lyrics for that particular song during the recording, we knew we could make it better. Simply put is about an inner struggle that any person can face when they feel they don’t belong or the world around them isn’t what they want it to be. The working title at the time was Make It Out Alive and we are much happier now with what it has become.
Review Fix: How did your previous albums help in the creation of this one?
Staniforth: Every work we have put out has helped us grow. But we believe that is is on stage that a band really grows and learns the craft.
Review Fix: What are your goals for this year?
Staniforth: We wanna get the tunes out to as many people that we can. Hopefully get to Europe as well.
Review Fix: How do you want this album to be remembered?
Staniforth: The fans determine how an album will be remembered. We hope the it is enjoyed for years to come. That is the sign of a good album.
