With plenty of build up for this weekend’s Lockdown pay per view, this week’s Impact was one big tease, but one that has to get you a little excited. Between the Magnus/Samoa Joe title bout and the eight-man tag for control of the company, TNA hasn’t been this exciting in a while.
Check out our weekly Impact Power Rankings to see who could come out victorious at Lockdown.
Honorable Mention: Samuel Shaw: The youngster is solid and getting better every week. Between the weird persona and the unique submission finisher, he’s got plenty of potential. At the same time, Shaw has managed to give Mr. Anderson and Christy Hemme something they haven’t had in a while, pertinence. His loss to fan favorite Eric Young shouldn’t be looked to hard at either- this kid is in the middle of a decent push.
5: Ethan Carter III: He continues to be an annoying heel, but knows how to get heat. Continuing to push the buttons of Kurt Angle, Carter has made the fans hate him, to the point where they can’t wait to see him get his rear handed to him. Adding the side Ankle Lock to his repertoire this week, Carter is even more dangerous.
4: Samoa Joe: Even if he doesn’t win, Joe is going to give Magnus one heck of a run-a guaranteed match that will end up on Magnus’ highlight reel. Undefeated for weeks, Joe has racked up enough wins to reclaim his position as of one of the company’s most talented workers. As stated previously, he most likely won’t end up victorious at Lockdown, he won’t disappoint himself in the process.
3: Magnus: The reigning World Heavyweight Champion has everything to prove at Lockdown, especially with no help from Dixie Carter. Even if he retains the title using heel tactics, expect Magnus to keep the gold around his waist.
2: Team MVP: Even though having Jeff Hardy on their team for Lockdown doesn’t make much sense, it certainly gives them an advantage. A perennial crowd favorite and a former World Champion, Hardy’s return will be enjoyed by the fans. Add in a surging MVP and a hungry Wolves team of Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards and it’s easy to see Team MVP isn’t going to lay down for anybody.
1: Team Roode: The acquisition of X-Division Champion Austin Aries definitely bolsters their forces. Roode is one o the company’s top heels and the newly crowned TNA Tag Team Champions The Bromans, Jessie Godderz and Robbie E are no slouches either, regardless of their jerk personas.
