Review Fix Exclusive: Social 66 Guitarist Se7en Talks New Album

Review Fix chats with Social 66 Guitarist Se7en, who discusses the band’s new self-titled album via Pavement Entertainment. Se7en also chats about the band’s influences, goals for the rest of 2014 and touring with established label mates Soil and Tantric. An eclectic mix of old-school rock and Nu-Metal, their sound is unique, but distinctive.

Review Fix: How did the band come together?

Se7eN: Our singer Jason O’Daniel and I had played together before in a previous band and when we left we formed Social about 7 years ago, I had left Jason to go pursue another project all the while O’Daniel had been continuing on writing and branding Social 66 on his own. While I was playing in my other project and forming relationships with other bands on the circuit I met our bass player Eric Seevers and drummer Joe Bailey. When it came time for me to move on from my other project Jason was the first guy I called to want to work with again and we brought on Eric and Joe from there and the rest is history.

Review Fix: How are your influences different and how does that play a part in the band’s sound?

Se7eN: We all definitely have our own individual musical influences but we also have a lot of common ones too that help in forming the sound of Social 66, Im a big rock guy and 80s rock fan (Motley Crue) but also a fan of modern rock and anything guitar based as is Jason, We love metal bands as well and severs likes pop as well as rock so all in all in helps form our sound

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Se7eN: I want our music to lift people up from a bad day and just put on our record and drive, but we also want our fans to take what they will from our music and form their own opinion.

Review Fix: How do you want this album to play a role in you guys moving forward as a band?

Se7eN: We want this album to be a staple for us and our label ( Pavement Entertainment ), and we are planning to push this album as far as we can so we can do the next one.

Review Fix: “Sorry” is an awesome track. How was it written and put together? Is there a story behind it?

Se7eN: Thank you very much for saying so, Jason wrote the main riffs and sent them to me and I put all the color lead work over it but we weren’t in the same room jamming it like some bands do. We write a lot by doing our own thing and sending tracks to each other to write on.

Review Fix: For people who have never heard you guys, how would you describe your sound?

Se7eN: We are a pretty eclectic mix but hard rocking and feel good music, Sometimes a mix between Black Label Society meets Thin Lizzy.

Review Fix: What are your goals for this year?

Se7eN: We are happy to finally have the album out to the fans and now we just plan to tour as much as we can to promote it, keep getting our singles to radio and secure as many markets as we can to blow this album up.

Review Fix: How does it feel to be touring with Soil and Tantric?

Se7eN: It feels amazing to be out on this tour with our label mates and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to be with right now. Everyone is cool as hell and it’s a really fun tour
