In this issue, Aric is called away from his homeland by the MERD (Military Extraterrestrial Reconnaissance Outpost) to investigate an attack by an unknown aircraft. Once Aric figures out what they are, he sets out to face them before they do any more damage to Earth.
It sounds like Aric has now become Valiant Comic’s version of “Supermanâ€/â€Captain America.†He was much more interesting as a loner out to reclaim his lost country. Of course, this series can go many ways. Valiant may make this an interesting series if they don’t try to make it a “Supermanâ€/â€Captain America†clone.
The art goes back and forth between Valiant’s usual high grade art to low grade “let’s save time and cut corners†art. The ones that look low grade may not take the reader out of the story, but it is a distraction. We first see this great looking comic and then it degrades into something totally different.
“Armor Hunters #1†looks to be an underwhelming addition to the “X-O: Manowar†canon. It has a story we’ve all seen in “Superman†and “Captain America.†Valiant needs to up its ante in order to make this comic work or it’ll go into comic book limbo like all the other mediocre comics.
