With plenty of action and just enough build-up for this week’s show, NXT got the job done. It’s definitely hard to beat this brand in terms of the amount of content they produce in the ring in such short time, but more importantly even the brands’ weaknesses, mainly the inferior promo skills of the performers, isn’t as much of a hinderance as it could be.
Regardless of those hiccups, this past week’s NXT was exciting, even without two of the brand’s biggest stars, Sami Zayn and Corey Graves.
Check out this week’s NXT Power Rankings to see who advanced in the NXT Women’s Title tournament and who else managed to thrive on a stacked card.
Honorable Mention: Brodus Clay: Sad that Clay’s best match in the WWE was a loss to Adrian Neville. Regardless of where he goes from here, Clay has at least proven he can work with a guy in much better shape.
5: Mojo Rawley: He’s still a one-dimensional gimmick, but the fans absolutely love him. Someone needs to give him a better finisher and then he’d be so much easier to watch.
4: Tyson Kidd: One of the better workers in the WWE, Kidd has rejuvenated himself in NXT. However, how long can Kidd perform in the minor leagues before growing complacent? Simply put, this guy could thrive in a host of other promotions and it’s only because of the WWE’s roster depth that he’s languishing in NXT in the first place.
3: Adam Rose: After weeks of trying to find a finish that works, Rose has the modified front Neckbreaker and it works well. The only problem is that there’s little else. Unlike Fandango, who doesn’t let his gimmick overcome what he does in the ring, Rose is virtually all gimmick at this point.
2: Sasha Banks: She’s a workhorse and with a new Backcracker/Crossface finisher combo, she’s just as deadly. Equally as beautiful as she is talented, Banks has plenty of room to grow. The thought of her squaring off with her BFF Charlotte Flair for the NXT Women’s Championship is an intriguing one.
1: Adrian Neville: The NXT Champion continues to fight his way through all obstacles and with new teeth in his mouth, he dominated the much larger Brodus Clay. Can anyone beat Neville in NXT right now?
