NXT Coverage: Not So Much the Future Right Now

Appearances by Paige, Emma, Tyson Kidd and Bo Dallas continue to prove that NXT is quickly becoming more about a place for lower mid-card performers to go than where the stars of tomorrow develop.

Where was Mojo Rawley this week? The Ascension? Tyler Breeze? Corey Graves?

Although the matches were solid for the most part, NXT is beginning to lose its roots. A few months ago, this show was at its best when the card was filled with youngsters and sporadic appearances from WWE talent.

In order for the show to get better, it needs to go back to the original formula.

Matches:

Bayley, Emma and Divas Champion Paige vs. Sasha Banks, Summer Rae and NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair: The BFFs worked over Emma for most of the match, as Flair in particular used her signature submissions and strikes. Once tagged in, Bayley hit some strikes and modified Exploder Suplex. Soon enough all six competitors were in the ring and squabbles between Flair and Rae allowed Bayley to Rollup Flair for the win.

Colin Cassady vs. Sylvester LeFort with Marcus Louis: Cassady made quick work of LeForte with a Big Boot and a Sit-out Side Urinage Suplex.

Sami Zayn vs. Mr. NXT (Bo Dallas): A good back and forth that ended after Zayn pulled off Dallas’ mask and nailed him with the Big Boot. After the match, Zayn had security escort a grieving Dallas out of the ring.

NXT Champion Adrian Neville vs. Tyson Kidd w/Natalya Neidhart: This was a great match filled with signature maneuvers, submissions and strikes. In the end, Kidd used the Blockbuster and a whole assortment of moves, including the Sharpshooter and a Somersault Leg Drop, but couldn’t put Neville away. Frustrated, Kidd went for the chair, but Neidhart took it away from him. When Kidd turned around, he got nailed with a Superkick from Neville, who then hit the Red Arrow for the win.
