On the heels of Slammiversary, this week’s TNA Impact saw World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young wrestle three times in order to get his match with MVP in a steel cage.
Check out this week’s TNA Power Rankings to see who else is ready for the company’s big summer PPV event.
Honorable Mention: Samoa Joe: In the middle of a feud with Bobby Lashley, the two have the opportunity to have one of the best matches on the card. Promising that MVP is next, can Samoa Joe finally get the World Title back around his waist?
5: Bobby Lashley: A clean win over Eric Young this week on Impact ensured his place on this week’s list and keeps him important for the time being. His match with Samoa Joe will be an important one as well because it’ll decide Joe’s World Title aspirations as well as where TNA sees Lashley moving forward. Will he just be MVP’s lackey, or something more?
4: Willow: With Abyss on his side against Magnus and Bram, Willow hasn’t been this dangerous since his debut. Although he’s not in the World Title picture, Hardy is still loved by TNA’s fans and can still have a good match. For right now, that’s enough for him to stay relevant in TNA.
3: Bully Ray: One of the most underrated workers in the sport today, Ray is set for a huge match with Ethan Carter III at Slammiversary that will help build the young heel up into the future star he deserves to be. At the same time, the Texas Death Match at the event is just another opportunity for Ray to do what he’s best at.
2: MVP: Sure, he softened up Eric Young this week on Impact, but can MVP win the title at Slammiversary? With all his cards on the table and Dixie Carter breathing down his neck, it’s do or die time for MVP.
1: Eric Young: Three matches in one night? Damn skippy, cause Young is just crazy enough. With the deck stacked against him on Impact, Young found a way to keep an advantage. Expect the same thing from Young at Slammiversary when he battles MVP in a steel cage.
