Daniel Bryan has wrestled three times in a night, so why can’t Eric Young?
With an opportunity to pick the stipulation for their match at Slammiversary, MVP told EY that he’d have to beat two of the three of the heel faction in one night. A solid primer for Slammiversary, this week’s Impact made sure to attack most of the matches on the Pay Per View card and put over good guys the likes of Eric Young, Bully Ray and Samoa Joe.
The Main Event between MVP and EY ultimately meant something and built drama for show on Sunday.
While far from amazing, this week’s Impact did what it needed to do.
Matches:
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young vs. Bobby Lashley: Young got in his share of strikes and Clotheslines, but Lashley was in control with strikes and power moves, all the while working on EY’s back. Although EY made a comeback, Lashley caught Young and beat him with the Running Powerslam. After the match, Lasley beat on Young before Samoa Joe made the save.
Robbie E. w/Zema Ion and Jessie Godderz vs. Mike Knox w/Crazy Steve, The Freak and Rebel: More nonsense as Knox won with the Sit-Out Powerbomb after Robbie was petrified of Crazy Steve.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young vs.Kenny King: Same old song as King could have won, got sloppy and Young take advantage with a Piledriver for the win.
#1 Contenders Match for Knockouts Title: Gail Kim vs. Madison Rayne vs. Brittany: A decent match until Velvet Sky and Angelina Love stopped by halfway through. Following the accidental hairspray in the eyes by Sky on Brittany, her original target, Gail Kim, won with the Eat Defeat.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young vs. MVP: Young was exhausted and got destroyed by MVP with a variation of strikes a modified Powerbombs. However, after MVP nailed EY with a chair, the champion won via DQ. After the bell, on the floor, with no gas, Young grabbed a mic and said the match between him and MVP at Slammiversary will be in a steel cage.
