Bobby Lashley is the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Who saw that coming? After Eric Young’s successful defense at Slammiversary, it appeared he’d continue his run for the foreseeable future. But after this week’s Impact, it’s fair to say the EY experiment is over and a new one has begun.
Check out this week’s TNA Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see what else happened on a wacky episode of Impact.
Honorable Mention: Tommy Dreamer: His promo during this week’s Impact Wrestling delved a bit into hyperbole when he said that the wrestling business relied on Dixie Carter’s shoulders, but it was a good segment that allowed Carter to get even more heat.
5: Ethan Carter III: Now with Bully Ray presumably out of the way, now Carter has to deal with Tommy Dreamer? Either way you look at it, Carter has continued to piss people off and gain heat. All he needs is a few more high profile opponents and some more ring time and Carter will get closer to solidifying a spot in the middle of the card.
4: Kurt Angle: His return is a welcomed one as TNA is in need of big names to fight the MVP regime. What he’ll be able to accomplish in the current physical shape he’s in is unknown, but
3: Eric Young: Damn that hurts. EY worked his tail off and got over as TNA World Heavyweight Champion, to only lose the belt on Impact Wrestling a week after defending it on Slammiversary. Will he get a rematch? What’s next for him?
2: TNA Tag Team Champions Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards: Anyone that thinks tag team wrestling is dead should watch these guys. Although not the biggest or strongest, their technical prowess and speed, as well as their heart makes up for it. Their win over Abyss and Willow and Samoa Joe and Austin Aries this week on Impact was awesome well, thanks to a beautiful Powerbomb, Backstabber combination.
1: Bobby Lashley: The new TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Lashley has some big shoes to fill as Eric Young was coming into his own. With MVP as his mouthpiece and a surging trio with King, can Lashley thrive?
