EA’s new defensive speed burst feels like something out of Mariokart, but it just may be the thing to even out the game on defense.
For years, offense in the Madden series has always been a more enjoyable endeavor than defense. With the truck stick and a plethora of other offensive moves at your disposal, offensive players always seemed to have an advantage.
In “Madden NFL 15†however, a new gameplay mechanic looks to continue this year’s effort to give defenses more tools to thrive. The “Off the Line†gameplay addition works similarly to the boost racers can get in the “Mariokart†series at the start of every race. The same way a racer times their acceleration at the start of the race to jump in front of the competition, is the same way a defender, could get a first step on an offensive lineman if they time the Quarterback’s snap.

The sequel, The Padre: One Shell Straight to Hell was released in February 2021- Hickey also served as a Story Editor and Lead Voiceover performer. He has also done narration and trailers for several other titles including The Kaiju Offensive, Relentless Rex and Roniu’s Tale.
Hickey is also the lead voiceover performer on Mega Cat Studios’ upcoming title WrestleQuest, responsible for nearly 90 characters in the game, as well as Skybound's Renfield: Bring Your Own Blood, where he voices both Dracula and Renfield, as well as several other characters. He also stars in Ziggurat Interactive’s World Championship Boxing Manager 2, where he performs the VO of nearly every male character in the game. He also worked on the Atari VCS’s BPM Boy.
