Two title matches, plenty of promo and the return of D-Von Dudley made sure this past week’s Impact Wrestling in the Big Apple lived up to the hype.
Check out this week’s TNA Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see how the company fared with fans in New York City.
Honorable Mention: Ethan Carter III: The fun moments of this week’s Impact were the moments with Tommy Dreamer, Bully Ray and Kurt Angle, but also when EC3 was given an opportunity to shoot his mouth. A talented young performer, Carter has plenty of potential and once the dust clears on the Bobby Lashley World Title run, expect ECIII to be in a position to get a push that lands him smack in the middle of the TNA World Heavyweight title picture.
5: Madison Rayne: Her Package DDT finisher is one of the best in women’s wrestling, period. She’d be great in a face vs. face feud with Knockouts Champion Gail Kim, but that isn’t in the cards right now.
4: Bobby Roode and Eric Young: Their feud with MVP and Kenny King is just beginning. An excellent mid-card tag battle, EY and Roode need to stay pertinent, while King and MVP try to hang on to the remaining heat they have. As a result, you get a good match every time these four are in the ring. For now, this is the best place for all four of them.
3: Austin Aries: Nothing against Senada in the ring, but Aries is the total package and should be the X-Division Champion. With the chances at option C always a possibility, Aries is just a short jump from being the TNA World Heavyweight Champion once again. And with his ability of having great matches every time he steps in the ring, why would you want to see him wear the strap again? Defending the X-Division belt in a crazy over the top Gauntlet match, Aries had another great week.
2: Jeff Hardy: With the era of Willow behind him, Hardy is back the way the fans want him. While he came up short in his quest for the TNA World Heavyweight title this past week on Impact, his feud with Lashley and the belt isn’t over just yet.
1: Bobby Lashley: He’s beaten Eric Young and Jef Hardy cleanly, so it’s fair to say he’s no longer the guy whole stole the title. What’s next for him though? With no heat and a real fight in September for Bellator MMA, how long will he have the TNA World Heavyweight title?
