Any time Adam Rose and Tyson Kidd main event a show, something went wrong. Not a horrible show in the ring, this week’s NXT failed to captivate from a story perspective. The tired old Kidd/Nattie Neidhart marriages issues angle was never over and it never will be. WWE Creative simply needs to do better.
Check out this week’s NXT Power Rankings to see what tag teams have begun to pick up steam as the #1 contenders tournament for the NXT Tag Team Title tournament approaches and what up and coming stars want to challenge for NXT’s singles titles.
Honorable Mention: Bull Dempsey and Mojo Rawley: With the NXT Tag Team Tournament quickly approaching, this makeshift team could surprise a few people. Although sidesteps for both of these singles performers, it’ll be interesting to see how they function as a team.
5: Bayley: She wants a match with NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and it looks like she just might get it.
4: The Ascension: Viktor and Konnor continue to destroy every team in their path, but again, their inability to sell in a match or tell any type of story in the ring is scary. The longest reigning champions in NXT History could be nothing more than filler on the show and a team that can’t get it done in the WWE. While not their fault, WWE Creative needs to try to do more with them creatively.
3: Charlotte Flair: Her win against Becky Lynch this week was a solid one, but one that proves the NXT Women’s division is pretty weak. In order for Flair to truly thrive and eventually get to the WWE’s main roster, she needs to fight a dominant opponent. With Bayley and Sasha Banks sitting on the sidelines, expect a major feud soon.
2: Tyler Breeze: For the second week in a row, Breeze took out a much larger opponent, quickly and thoroughly. His status as a top heel in the promotion now cemented, all Breeze has left to do is to take on NXT Heavyweight Champion Adrian Neville- and win.
1: Adrian Neville: Done with Breeze’s antics, Neville is ready to defend his title. Still admired by fans, Neville’s stock is at its highest, but still needs this feud to go well to assure his lift ticket to the WWE roster.
