With the record-breaking domestic opening weekend for “Guardian of the Galaxy†last weekend, many thought it was a foregone conclusion that the film was destined to repeat—well, many were wrong.
Estimates for the Michael Bay produced “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles†reboot have the action film taking in an impressive $64. 5-$65+ million for the weekend.
The reboot has been shredded to pieces by critics receiving an abysmal 20% on Rotten Tomatoes—however, it’s a hit with moviegoers, more specifically kids, the film has a B on Cinemascore.
If the film does take $65 million for the weekend it’ll be another win for the summer box office, which has been in a historically bad slump until “Guardians of the Galaxy†came out.
