With another Baron Corbin squash match and the debut of Hideo Itami, as well as a tag team main event with Titus O’Neil, Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn and NXT Champion Adrian Neville, there wasn’t any letdown following a solid NXT Takeover event last week.
Check out this week’s NXT Power Rankings to see who appears in line for an NXT title shot and more.
Honorable Mention: The Ascension: No longer Tag Team Champions, Viktor and Konnor are pissed. The end result could be some of their best work with the company.
5: Baron Corbin: He’s got a look and an amazing finisher, but forgive us if we’re scared about his future. Look at what has happened to Bull Dempsey and Mojo Rawley, two guys that have been booked similarly, steamrolling opponents to only show a plethora of weaknesses. However, to be fair, Corbin hasn’t cut a promo yet and has a much more diverse move set. This guy could make it.
4: Charlotte Flair: Cold, calculated and precise in the ring, Flair is NXT’s queen bee and has no problem proving it every week. With Bayley out of the way for now and a win over WWE Diva Emma, Flair is in a league of her one right now.
3: Hideo Itami: While his debut match was highlighted by a botched Springboard Dropkick, Itami did highlight his vicious arsenal of kicks and quickly finished off Justin Gabriel with a Double Stomp from the top rope.
2: Sami Zayn: After getting screwed out of the NXT title at Takeover, Zayn is focused on showing the NXT Universe that he is a better performer and man than NXT Champion Adrian Neville. While it’s impossible to know if this will end up with Zayn getting a much-deserved title shot in singles action, it is moving in that direction, even if it is a bit slower than most would like.
1: Adrian Neville: His new attitude is a much-needed change after months of being NXT’s version of John Cena. Still performing at an elite level, but with an wire of arrogance and confidence, Neville’s character is much more entertaining as a result.
