It’s hard to argue with six matches and plenty of promo to fuel what will be an awesome NXT Takeover main event. Add in a plethora of attention to the other title matches and feuds for the event and this week’s NXT actually did a better job to tease a big show than the WWE usually does.
Check out this week’s NXT Power Rankings to see who made the most of their tune-up matches before NXT Takeover.
Honorable Mention: Kenta: With his debut set for Takeover, the WWE Universe will finally see what Kenta is all about. Although it’s sad to see him in NXT first and not the WWE, he’ll be a dominant force in NXT that will quickly challenge for the promotion’s title.
5: Charlotte Flair: The reigning and defending NXT Women’s Champion will face her biggest test at the next NXT Takeover, something needed desperately to add legitimacy to her reign. With Bayley riding the biggest high of her career, Flair will have her work cut out for her. However, if her dominance is any sign of what is to come, Flair will do just fine.
4: Tyson Kidd: A dependable hand in the WWE, Kidd’s presence in the Fatal Four-Way match at NXT Takeover is all about making sure the match is solid. He can sell his heart out and has the type of offensive attack that works well with his opponents. At the same time, Kidd has proven to be dominant at times in NXT and could very well beat any of his three foes at Takeover and win the NXT title.
3:Tyler Breeze: He’s over with the NXT faithful and has momentum on his side. His match last month with Adrian Neville proved he’s one of the elite workers in the promotion. With only one singles title in NXT, it’s all or nothing for Breeze, so a roll of the dice and memorable performance at Takeover is in order. Otherwise, this push over the last four months was all for nothing.
2: Sami Zayn: He’s the best worker in NXT, but unlike Breeze and Kidd, he doesn’t need to have a title around his waist to be taken seriously. Ready to make his splash in the WWE, an NXT title win would be a nice way for him to end his run with the promotion, but chances are it won’t happen.
1: Adrian Neville: Like Charlotte Flair, this will be the biggest challenge Neville has faced as a champion. With a tune-up win over CJ Parker this week on NXT, Neville wasted no time and destroyed the mid-carder. He’s ready.
