With no Gail Kim or Ethan Carter III in action at No Surrender, there certainly was a few things missing, but quality performances in the ring more than outshines the lack of surprises and storyline drama.
Although it wasn’t their best show in New York City by a long shot, this week’s Impact Wrestling was a healthy medium that continues to make you think that the company has potential to be a viable #2 company in North America if they can find a television contract once their existing deal with Spike runs its course.
Matches:
No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal: Taryn Terrell vs. Madison Rayne vs. Velvet Sky vs. Angelina Love vs. Rebel vs. Brittany vs. Havok: Away from furthering the drama between the Beautiful people and The Menagerie, this match was all about Havok. Eliminating everyone who stood in her way, the edgy newcomer won easily to claim a shot at the Knockouts title.
Kenny King w/ MVP vs. Chris Melendez: King was in control throughout until Melendez showed some athleticism by countering King’s finisher into a pinning combination. After the match however, King destroyed Melendez with his finisher and quickly stirred the pot on the microphone.
Homicide vs. X-Division Champion Samoa Joe: An athletic match with plenty of offense and near-falls. But in spite of all of the offense, Homicide could not put Joe away with the Cutter and after an attempt at the Gringo Killer, Joe wrapped him up with the Rear-Naked Choke for the win. After the match, James Storm hit the ring with The Great Sanada and the new-look Manik to take out the already-weakened Homicide and Joe.
Tag Team Championship Series – Match #3: Ladder Match: Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy vs. Bully Ray and Devon vs. TNA Tag Team Champions Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards: Another wild match full of hardcore spots. The fans were bloodthirsty and they got their wish on several occasions. Down a match to both Team 3D and the Hardy’s The Wolves had to bring it tonight and after Richards put Matt through a table with an insane Double Foot Stomp, he managed to knock Jeff off a ladder so Edwards could climb up n the win.
Bram vs. Gunner: Another rough match between two of the toughest guys in Impact Wrestling. Simply put, Bram is a monster and was able to even take care of the interfering Sam Shaw to ensure a win.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Lashley vs. Bobby Roode: Lashley, ever the dominate champion took it through Roode the entire match, but Roode dished out plenty of offense as well. After escaping from a pin following a Running Powerslam, Roode escaped the Spear and went for the Roode Bomb, but Lashley finally managed to hit the Spear for the win.
