After two weeks of disappointing shows, WWE RAW satisfied this week with a solid card and plenty of storyline development in its season premiere.
While the Jerry Springer segment fell a bit flat, the rest of the show was good enough to keep hardcore fans interested for the full three-hours.
Check out this week’s RAW Power Rankings to see who put themselves in a great place just two weeks before Night of Champions.
Honorable Mention: Bray Wyatt: Weeks after feuding unsuccessfully with Chris Jericho, Wyatt got a much-needed win over the WWE legend. Now with Y2J out of his way? Who’s next for the second generation superstar?
5: NXT: Seeing NXT Champion Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, Tyler Breeze and even the returning Tyson Kidd was something that should have happened a long time ago. Although Neville was the performer who was showcased more than anyone else, it’s great to see the brand get more attention.
4: AJ Lee and Paige: The best feud in the Divas division in years, Lee and Paige are magnetic on TV together and although they didn’t do much wrestling this week, they continue to push the bar higher for everyone else they work with. Sadly, at this point, however, it’s been hard to find anyone else that can play in the same ring with them.
3: Roman Reigns: Talk about a guy with a target on his back. Unable to fight off Randy Orton, Kane and Seth Rollins this week, Reigns is sure to have his hands full over the next few weeks, but those are odds that will soon make him one of the company’s top baby faces.
2: Paul Heyman/Brock Lesnar: Heyman continues to prove himself as an amazing heel manager. His work this week was simply stellar as he tried his hardest to get John Cena to embrace his old character, the one that didn’t wear wrist bands and believe in hustle, loyalty and respect. Regardless of how the next chapter in the Cena/Lesnar rivalry turns out, Heyman has done his job to build up the drama.
1: John Cena: Will he turn heel and embrace his old attitude? After Paul Heyman told him a heel turn is the only way he’d ever beat Brock Lesnar, Cena has some serious thinking to do. Although it appears he’s already made up his mind, we’re not quite sure he has. Just like Heyman this week, Cena did a great job assuring the crowd he was more than happy being the WWE’s poster boy.
