Being a dad is hard. It’s even harder when you’re a former mob enforcer. Mike Richardson explored this “Father’s Day.†The preview of the first issue does not leave a strong impression on the reader.
The story is about a former mob enforcer named Silas who has quit that lifestyle and has now found peace as a recluse. His daughter has now found him which has caused a group of hitmen to follow her and attack Silas.
This preview shows the instant the daughter found him. It’s mainly just a big escape scene. Not much of an introduction, just showing the reader what they can expect from this type of story. It’s not that particularly engaging, or is terrible my any means.
The art by Gabriel Guzmán is also pretty ho-hum. It looks like your typical modern comic art with nothing that stands out about it.
“Father’s Day†has an interesting premise, but the preview pages make the execution look disappointing. The preview pages don’t make the story stand out, and the art does not help matters much. This comic could be interesting, but for now it looks like a generic mass produced comic that just blends in with the other comics on store shelves.
