Horror Games Worth Playing in October

October means one thing for many people: Halloween, which translates to everything scary imaginable. One of the best ways to experience Halloween is by playing some good ol’ horror games. We here at Reviewfix.com have compiled a list of horror games that are worth your time playing during this month ghost, vampires and other scary things.

Corpse Party (Playstation Network): Creepy, atmospheric, depressing and downright scary. Add in a perfect blend of visual novel and adventure and “Corpse Party” is one overlooked horror gem that’s worth every scream and cry of agony from the game’s characters.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem (Nintendo Gamecube): If you’re a fan of H.P Lovecraft, this game is for you. Lovecraftian monsters, a scary house full of secrets, a unique battle system and top-notch acting is what makes this a cult classic.

Silent Hill 1-4 (Playstation and Playstation 2): The first four games in this series are classics for a reason. The town of “Silent Hill” gives the perfect backdrop for a creepy, edge of your seat mood. Plus, each installment offers excellent stories that deal with loss, letting go and of course fear.

House of the Dead Series (various): The most iconic arcade horror shooter game is perfect for a guy’s night during Halloween. The shooting mechanic may not be 100% on a Playstation or Dreamcast controller, but if you have a light gun or a Wii or a Playstation 3 the Wii Remote or PS Move fixes that problem. The stories may not be all that and the acting below average, but it’s tons of fun shooting mutants with a buddy.

Castlevania Series (various): One of the most iconic series ever, “Castlevania” has delighted players for almost thirty years now. Weather it be the newer “Lords of Shadow” games, the critically acclaimed “Symphony of the Night,” the universally hated “Simon’s Quest” or the NES original, there’s no denying these games will satisfy your horror cravings this October.
