The ongoing dominance of Baron Corbin and the debut of Carmella made for a solid episode of NXT that, if anything, continued to lack storyline progression. It’s almost as if the things the fans want to see, a Adrian Neville/Sami Zayn showdown for the NXT championship and a battle between the Vaudevillians and Lucha Dragons for the NXT Tag Team just don’t seem on the horizon, at all.
The end result is a show that’s entertaining, but lacks the extra punch it needs to be truly something special.
Matches:
Baron Corbin vs. Elias Sampson: Talk about a squash. No strikes no drama- just Corbin’s End of Days finisher. That’s all.
NXT Tag Team Champions Kalisto and Sin Cara vs. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy: Blake and Murphy had spunk, but the high-flying offense from the Lucha Dragons was too much. Cara ended up with the victory following the Sunset Bomb from the top rope.
NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch: Despite some offense from Lynch, Flair got the win with the Natural Selection.
Colin Cassady and Enzo Amore vs. Sylvester LeFort and Marcus Louis: LeFort inadvertently knocked off Louis’ wig and rather than have a match, Louis beat on his tag team partner.
Carmella vs. “Blue Pantsâ€: A quick one, Carmelia was decent overall but got the win with a unique Head Scissors Submission hold.
Sami Zayn vs. Tyson Kidd: Both traded offense in the technical showcase, but Zayn got the clean win following the Exploder Suplex in the corner and the Helluva Kick.
