While this past week’s episode of NXT was a decent one, with five solid matches, it was obvious something was missing.
In-ring work from Adrian Neville, Charlotte Flair and the Lucha Dragons to be exact.
How can this show truly thrive when you leave your brightest stars off the card? How are they supposed to prove themselves when they aren’t on television nearly as much as they need to be?
With as much talent as they have, NXT should consider adding time to the show and attempt to build either deeper matches, or more intricate storylines. At this point, there’s too much filler and fluff. Although it’s a developmental brand, there’s no reason why they can’t tighten things up.
Matches:
Tyler Breeze vs. Mojo Rawley: Breeze was in no mood to play and quickly finished off Rawley with the Fujiwara Arm Bar.
Viktor vs. Hideo Itami: After Viktor had the early advantage, Itami got the win with the Dropkick, even in the face of a distraction from Konnor, who destroyed Sho Funaki on the outside. After the match, the combined force of the Ascension destroyed Itami once again and delivered The Fall of Man on an already-injured Funaki.
Aiden English and Simon Gotch vs. Colin Cassidy and Enzo Amore: Gotch and English surprisingly dispatched Amore with the Barrel Roll/Senton finisher.
Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks: Lynch got in her fair share of licks, but Banks got the win after a nice Clothesline and the Banks Statement.
Sami Zayn vs. Titus O’Neil: Zayn sold for the majority of the match, but made an awesome comeback at the end. At the same time, O’Neil hit a few counter moves and all of a sudden, the match went back and forth, until O’Neil won with the Sky High Powerbomb. After the match, O’Neil wanted to continue the onslaught, but Adrian Neville made the save.
