Pre-ordering “Resident Evil Revelations 2†on either the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3 will grant players access to the Raid Mode Throwback Stage upon release, Capcom announced last weekend during New York Comic Con 2014.
“Resident Evil Revelations 2,†the sequel to the popular “Resident Evil†spin-off, will release episodically, similar to the way Telltale Games distributes “The Walking Dead†and “The Wolf Among Us†games; however, each of the four planned episodes will launch just a week apart.
“One of the big reasons we decided to deliver this game in this fashion basically is for you guys [the fans],†said “Resident Evil Revelations 2†Producer, Michiteru Okabe, through an interpreter during a panel at NYCC. “What we want to do is we want to see you guys communicate with one another, speculate about what might happen in the next episode, talk about your experience with the episode you just played.
“We plan on communicating with you, as well — those of us on the dev side. I was hoping we could get a really good conversation going and we could treat it as an ongoing series sort of like you’d see on television.â€
Capcom is giving players three ways to purchase the game: episodically, for $5.99 each, which includes some bonus content; a Season Pass, for $24.99, with added bonus content; or, at a later date after each episode is released, a retail copy, which will include all the game’s bonus content.
The publisher has yet to announce what this content will be.
“Revelations 2†launches early next year on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
