The TNA Tag Team Tournament took over this week’s episode of Impact and thanks to four-solid tag team matches, the show was solid. Although there was little storyline development, with the swerve of Sam Shaw on Gunner, as well as the continued feud between Lashley and Bobby Roode and even the lower-card battle between Bram and Devon stealing time on the show, TNA continues to try to build logically.
It may not be sexy all the time, but for the time being, it’s working.
Matches:
Tag Team Tournament: Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy vs. Zema Ion and Jessie Godderz: There was a ton of back and forth until Matt Twist of Fate, followed up by a Jeff Swanton Bomb got the Hardy Boys the win.
Tag Team Tournament: Samoa Joe and Low Ki and vs. Samuel Shaw w/Britney and Gunner: Miscommunication between Shaw and Gunner as well as Britney’s grabbing of Gunner’s leg allowed Low-Ki to hit the Kick and Joe to latch on the Kokina Clutch for the submission win on Gunner. After the bell, Shaw took out Gunner with a chair.
Rebel vs. Angelina Love: This match never occurred as Havok took out Rebel before Gail Kim made the save as the two beat on each other on the outside.
Bram vs. Devon: An old-school hardcore battle, these two beat on each other the entire match. But it wasn’t until Magnus interfered with the Kendo Stick that Magnus was able to use a spare Turnbuckle and nail Devon over the head with it for the win.
Tag Team Tournament: MVP and Kenny King vs. Mr. Anderson and Christopher Melendez: Anderson and Melendez were in-charge throughout, but a Rollup with a grab of the tights from King on Meledez earned them the win.
Tag Team Tournament: Ethan Carter III and Tyrus vs. Rockstar Spud and Eric Young: Spud took a beating the entire match while Young was forced to watch. Once Young got into the match he evened things out and Spud managed to shine with some high-flying antics on the outside. However it was Tyrus that put Spud away with a Chokeslam, before allowing ECIII to cover Spud for the win.
