WWE RAW Coverage: Cena vs. Authority?

Team Cena vs. Team Authority at Survivor Series?

This could be fun. After a mediocre Hell in a Cell pay per view, this week’s Monday Night RAW got the promotion back on track with a show that managed to balance storyline and in-ring action with much more proficiency than anything the show has produced as of late.

Matches:

WWE Tag Team Champions Goldust and Stardust vs. The Big Show and Mark Henry: Show and Henry were in charge until the two began to fight over a tag that Henry wasn’t a fan of. Trying to put it behind them, the two continued to dominant the Rhodes brothers until Goldust and Stardust began to work on Henry’s legs. But once again, Show tagged himself in without Henry’s consent and after Show knocked out Stardust with the WMD, Henry hit Show with the World’s Strongest Slam, enabling the Tag Champs to retain the gold. After it all, Henry further established his dominance with two more World’s Strongest Slams.

Divas Champion AJ Lee vs. Alicia Fox: A decent encounter until Paige, who was stationed at the announce table, got up and screamed at Fox to “Win.” With her back turned, Fox was easy prey for Lee, who promptly rolled her up for the win. After the match, Paige beat on Fox until security made the save.

Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso vs. Damien Sandow and The Miz: A standard tag match that saw the Usos and Miz go through their signature offense. Reminiscent of the old Bella Twins’ “Twin Magic,” Jimmy switched with Jey behind the refs back and quickly got the win with the Rollup.

Bo Dallas vs. Ryback: A Meathook Clothesline and the Shellshock allowed Ryback to make quick work of Dallas.

Cesaro vs. Dean Ambrose: The match never got started as Ambrose beat on Cesaro with a mic and called out Bray Wyatt.

Nikki Bella w/Brie Bella vs. Naomi: Nikka got the win with the Rack Attack, but a big part of the victory had something to do with Brie’s interference on the outside.

Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. Kane: Ziggler was vigilant, even in the face of most of Kane’s set-up maneuvers. Although he hit the Super Kick and the Fame-asser, Kane was always a step ahead. Going for the Chokeslam however, Ziggler was able to counter the move into a pinning combination and win the match. Seth Rollins, Mercury and Noble quickly hit the ring and took Ziggler out before John Cena made the save.

Seth Rollins w/Mercury and Noble vs. John Cena: A damn good main event that saw Rollins retreat outside the ring several times to build up match tension. With Mercury and Noble interfering at ringside, Cena had his hands full throughout. Although Rollins hit a few high impact maneuvers throughout the match, he couldn’t put Cena away. After nearly being counted out, Cena hit his trademark two Shoulder Block/Belly-to-Back Suplex before throwing Rollins out of the ring. After some more back-and-forth Cena hit the Tornado DDT, but Rollins avoided the three-count. Countering the Attitude Adjustment and STF, Rollins hit a Reverse DDT variation and the turnbuckle Powerbomb. But Cena wasn’t done yet. Just when it appeared Cena had the match won, Rollins quickly retreated and the locker room surprisingly cleared. For what reason, who knows. Cena ended the night with an AA on Heath Slater and Bo Dallas.
