Bobby Roode is the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion, but was it the match everyone expected to see?
Check out this week’s TNA Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see who else managed to shine in an episode of Impact that was much more than just the night a new World Heavyweight Champion was crowned.
Honorable Mention: Madison Rayne: She’s pissed and Taryn Terrell is in a bad spot because of it. With Gail Kim taking on Knockouts Champion Havok, it’s great to see that TNA can still have a solid secondary feud with their women’s division. WWE should definitely take notice.
5: Bram: Vowing to kill off all the old dinosaurs of hardcore, Bram’s trying to become the almost-Bruiser Brody in TNA. While he needs a bit more charisma, his grit in the ring and his allegiance with former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Magnus gives him much more credibility than you think.
4: Samoa Joe and Low Ki: Earning another win in the TNA Tag Team Tournament, it’s hard to ignore the balance of speed and power and mutual affection for strikes and submissions. If the Wolves ever had a new team in TNA that would give them a great match, it would be these guys. Speaking of “these guys,†when does it all break down and we finally get to see that epic X-Division title match?
3: James Storm: His win over Eddie Edwards was thanks largely to help from Sanada and Manik, but it’s interesting to hear Storm say The Revolution is looking to expand. One of the most dependable workers in the company, this new “Bray Wyatt to the cruiserweights†gimmick might ultimately work better than expected.
2: Matt and Jeff Hardy: These guys are still adored by fans and can still perform. Although Matt is not in the shape he once was, Jeff is as enigmatic as ever and as a result, these guys are still marketable and relevant. With a showdown against Samoa Joe and Low-Ki for the next episode of Impact, The Hardy’s will definitely have their hands full.
1: Bobby Roode: Although Lashley was put on a leash for the match, Roode worked hard and after months of fighting, won back the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. With Kenny King and MVP out of the Tag Team Tournament and Lashley losing his title, it’ll be interesting to see what Roode for Impact’s next episode.
