Review Fix: What was the creative process for this album?

Cody Bass: We knew in the beginning of the process that this release was going to be our darkest material so far. “Creature of Habit” was written in the way that is familiar to us, getting together and making noise until something tangible comes of it. This release was different for us because we wanted to see how far we could take our sound in a solemn and heavy direction while still keeping the melodic qualities that we love about Waypoint.

Review Fix: What is it like to be a part of Spartan Records?

Bass: Being a part of Spartan Records is great. There are so many incredible bands that we share a label with that it is kind of mind blowing at times. Also, the support we get from John is something we are extremely grateful for. There’s a ton of hard work and dedication from everyone involved and it definitely shows.

Review Fix: What makes this album special?

Bass: “Creature of Habit” is our first release on a label and the first time our music has ever been put on vinyl, which has been a goal of ours for as long as I can remember.

Review Fix: What song has the best story behind it?

Bass: “Facing My Own Guilt” because it encompasses the theme of the EP in the clearest way, which is coming to terms with the problems you have with yourself and the things that haunt you.

Review Fix: How is this EP different from your other work?

Bass: On this release we feel like we have finally found our niche. Our other releases have been an exploration of different sounds that have led us to this point.

Review Fix: Who do you think will enjoy this EP the most?

Bass: People that struggle with constantly trying to better themselves but always come up short will hopefully find something to relate to in this album.

Review Fix: What have you learned about yourself as a musician through this album?

Bass: Playing with the same emotion that went into writing the songs while recording really shows in the outcome of the record.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Bass: Playing shows to promote this release and writing new songs.
