‘WWE 2K15’ ‘WCW Pack’ Review: Not Enough Attention to Detail

Those who want to “Feel the Bang” and “Rack” up the competition one more time get their wish with WWE 2K15’s new “WCW Pack,” but a lack of extra attention to detail hurt the overall product.

To relive the Monday Night Wars in “WWE 2K15,” you need certain characters. While Stone Cold, The Rock, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, Sting, Shawn Michaels and The Big Show as well as several other characters are in “WWE 2K15,” other big names from the competition are missing.

The game’s latest DLC, “WCW Pack,” released on Dec. 16, adds some names that hardcore fans will recognize, creating far more nostalgia in various game modes. However, some of these choices are baffling ones. Mid-card mainstay and former WCW TV Champion Lord Steven Regal, former WCW TV Champion Fit Finlay and former WCW Tag Team Bam Bam Bigelow are three of the five characters added to the game’s main roster as a part of the DLC, but they achieved far more success in other promotions, mainly the WWE and weren’t huge parts of the Monday Night Wars. That hurts this DLC’s legitimacy right off the bat. No one will argue how influential Diamond Dallas Page and Lex Luger were to the WCW cause though and because of that and for the most part, awesome looking character models, this pack ends up satisfying, but also leaves a lot to be desired in terms of realism and attention to detail.

The biggest problems with this pack are the lack of authenticity. Although the character models for the most part look great (sans DDP’s massively high mullet and lack of a mustache- it’s like they combined two of his looks rather than focus on one.), there’s a slew of overall problems.
