Thanks to a lackluster card, spurred only by appearances from Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and Chris Jericho, RAW was able to just squeak by this week.
Check out this week’s RAW Power Rankings to see who got the ball moving in the right direction on the road leading to Royal Rumble.
Don’t Forget: Chris Jericho: His segment with Rusev and Lana was a blast and his “match†with Paul Heyman/Brock Lesnar was just as entertaining. In terms of guest General Managers, Jericho has been the best of the lot thus far. And make no mistake, no one would have put Lesnar that over. It’s a testament for Jericho’s ability to do good business.
Honorable Mention: Natalya Neidhart: A surprising win this week over Brie Bella gets Neidhart on our Power Rankings for the first time in ages. Already one of the best female workers in the sport today, it’ll be interesting if she’s given a real push this time.
5: The Big Show: He’s old, but he continues to win matches against younger and more talented performers. For the second consecutive night, Show picked up a win against the younger Erik Rowan, further cementing the fact that Show is still much more than enhancement talent. Add in his blossoming feud with Roman Reigns and Show continues to be a pertinent force.
4: The Ascension: The WWE Tag Team Division is a joke. Sure, there are plenty of talented teams, but most of them lack signature double-team moves and have poor gimmicks. Take away the ridiculous ring-gear they had in their first RAW vignette and Viktor and Konnor have the ability to be a good powerhouse Tag Team that RAW desperately needs.
3: Roman Reigns: He wants a shot at Brock Lesnar, bad. But he knows he has to go through The Big Show and then the Royal Rumble, first. It’ll be an interesting ride for the young guy over the next few months. With plenty of fan support and blossoming skills on the microphone, Reigns continues to prove he’s ready for a larger role in the promotion.
2: John Cena: His shot at Lesnar is confirmed and he’s got a bit more edge than usual. He’s going to need it. regardless, this is a Cena, one with something to prove- that fans haven’t seen in months, maybe even years.
1: Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins: Chris Jericho doesn’t get dominated often and Lesnar absolutely destroyed him. Sure, it wasn’t a landmark appearance, but it was one that was desperately needed to build some tension for Lesnar’s encounter with John Cena at Royal Rumble. As far as Rollins goes, his new “alliance” with Heyman and Lesnar makes him more dangerous than ever.
