Smackdown is considered by many to be the company’s B show, but this week featured a nice balance of promo and solid wrestling action. While it wasn’t on the same level of RAW, it wasn’t entirely passable either.
Check out this week’s Smackdown Power Rankings to see who made the most of this special edition of Smackdown.
Honorable Mention: Erik Rowan: A 300-Pound Splash? Executed to beauty? Damn skippy. Big Red has plenty of potential, but has been unable to score that big win that really gets him over. While this match isn’t that moment, Rowan is going to get there eventually.
5: Rusev: He’s about to go to war with Ryback and wasted no time taking the offensive, ambushing him on Smackdown. The biggest test of his undefeated streak yet, Rusev is going to have to show us a lot more than some nifty kicks and a Camel Clutch.
4: Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt: Last year at this time, no one would have thought that this would have been one of the premier feuds in the company. Both are incredibly charismatic and in a way similar, but fans continue to eat their battles up. Until the WWE finds someone else for them to dance with, or fans get sick of it, expect the feud to last through Royal Rumble.
3: Seth Rollins: Despite suffering his first loss to Dolph Ziggler this week on Smackdown, there’s no doubt- he’s still the top young heel in the promotion.
2: Roman Reigns: Fandango may not be the stiffest competition for the returning young star, but it was a good tune up for what is to come. With Big Show on a monster roll, Reigns needs to be at his best and from this small, bite-sized chunk, that’s exactly where Reigns is right now.
1: Dolph Ziggler: With no CM Punk or Daniel Bryan, Ziggler has solidified himself as the best in-ring worker in the company. With the Intercontinental Title around his waist again as well, he’s the closest thing to a People’s Champion the promotion has right now.
