H1Z1 is, even in alpha build, a well-polished experience that truly tackles the zombie-survival approach in a simple, user-friendly way. Survival isn’t exactly easy, but it’s easy to survive… take a moment to wrap your head around that.
It took about 30 minutes to get into one of the crowded servers. Once in, though, well, let’s be honest, we had no idea what we were doing. But that was part of the fun. The first thought that’ll presumably cross your mind the moment you’re tossed into the game is, “Okay, how would I survive an actual apocalypse?” And if you’re smart, you’ll probably head in search of food and supplies.
H1Z1 has players fighting multiple battles at all times: hunger, dehydration, wildlife, zombies and other players. These are constant worries as you attempt to keep yourself alive, which you probably won’t, at least not at first.
The first few hours of H1Z1 seem to be more about trial-and-error than anything else.
