Even without Kevin Owens, Adrian Neville and NXT Champion Sami Zayn, this week NXT was still a solid one, with four entertaining matches and plenty of storyline development for the weeks ahead.
While some may complain about the week on, week off structure of the show, it definitely builds drama for every week. With a Sami Zayn appearance promised for next week, as well as Tag Team title encounter with Simon Gotch and Aiden English, the show continues to keep the anticipation high.
Matches:
NXT Tag Team Champions Kalisto and Sin Cara vs. Tye Dillinger and Jason Jordan: Dillinger and Jordan used power moves and quick tags to keep the Dragons down, but after Kalisto eliminated Jordan on the outside, Cara got the win with the Sunset Bomb off the top on Dillinger. After the match, Simon Gotch and Aiden English attacked the duo and finished off Kalisto with the European Uppercut/Neckbreaker combination.
Carmella w/Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. Blue Pants: After an inadvertent distraction from Amore, Carmella got Rolled Up by Blue Pants for the crazy upset. After the match, Carmella was noticeably upset with her friend.
Baron Corbin vs. CJ Parker: Big Boot, Snake Eyes and The End of Days. That’s all it took for Corbin to destroy Parker, again. After the match, both Corbin and Bull Dempsey continued to attack one another and build intensity for their feud.
Hideo Itami and Finn Balor vs. The Ascension:Â Konnor and Viktor were aggressive throughout until Balor delivered the Pele Kick and got Itami in the match. After the hot tag, Itami delivered the Tornado DDT on the ring ropes and then the top rope Clothesline, but then was nearly decapitated by a Viktor STO. After Balor eliminated Konnor on the outside with the Stomp however, Itami got the win with the Spinning Side Kick.
