Just like MVP said at the beginning of the show, the BDC is nothing to “mess†with.
Taking out TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley, the BDC made sure this was an episode of the show that meant something.
Although the new format of Impact Wrestling feels a bit forced, the in-ring action continues to be top notch. Lengthy matches, with plenty of offense, with the focus on just a small, integral angles, TNA is currently fluff-free.
With the promise of the annual “Feast or Fired†event next week as well, Impact Wrestling continues to build momentum and a presence on Destination America.
Matches:
Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe: Angle hit multiple German Suplexes, but Joe was in the mix thanks to submission maneuvers, strikes and his trademark Urinage Slam. Fighting off the Ankle Lock and the Olympic Slam, Joe proved his World Champion Pedigree. After the referee was taken out, Joe hit the kick to the groin and finished off Angle with the Kokina Clutch for the rare Submission win over Angle. After the match, the BDC beat on Angle, but Bobby Roode made the save.
Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards vs. Matt and Jeffy Hardy: This was one of the best tag matchs on Impact in months. Plenty of spot and counters and near-falls fueled an energetic bout that got the fans in the Manhattan Center engaged and entertained. After a Twist of Fate from Edwards and a Double Stomp Richards, Jeff made the save with a Senton Bomb to keep the match going. However, after Jeff sent Richards to the outside, Jeff and Matt hit the double-Team Twist of Fate for the win.
No DQ: Bobby Roode vs. Eric Young: This was a tough one as EY got the surprising win with a beautiful Piledriver on a steel Chair. In terms of developing a character, Young looks comfortable as a take no prisoners heel with a chip on his shoulders.
Knockouts Champion Taryn Terrell and Brooke Tessmacher vs. Angelina Love and Velvet Sky w/Jessie Godderz, Robbie E and Zema Ion: Although Terrell and Tessmacher dominated, Sky got the win with the School Girl thanks to interference from Robbie E. After the match, Awesome Kong again destroyed everyone in the ring, but was soon joined by Havoc. But before the two of them could fight, they were separated by security.
X-Division Champion Austin Aries vs. Low-Ki w/ Samoa Joe and Kenny King: These guys were slapping the crap out of each other here. With plenty of signature offense from both competitors, it was anyones game. Aries should have gotten the win after Ki tapped out to the Last Chancery, but with the referee’s back turned, King was able to keep the match going. After a top rope Ki-Krusher, Ki regained the X-Division title.
